From a very early age Simon's flair for illustration was reflected in his studies at school. Simon spent a year at Art college before enrolling for a degree in Engineering. Simon painted semi-professionally from 1985, and decided to go full-time, becoming a freelance artist/illusrator in 1993.
Simon's interest in motor racing began in 1979 when he attended his first Grand Prix at Silverstone (notably Williams first Grand Prix victory). He became addicted to the atmosphere, the incredible power, the noise and speed. His first idols were Gilles Villeneuve and Keke Rosberg, although his greatest hero was Ayrton Senna.
Simon is best known for his portrait work in which he gives great attention to capturing not only the likeness, but the personality of the subject. His work has been widely used within the racing industry, both in F1 and rallying. In addition to his original work, limited edition prints are published throughout the year, which complement his comprehensive collection of prints.
Simon is also a self taught musician, finding time to play jazz and blues guitar, in small group settings. He takes great pleasure composing contemporary music and working as a session musician, originating background music for films, TV and radio.
