A lap of Hockenheim with Giancarlo Fisichella:

"The very narrow pit straight leads to the first and fastest corner of the circuit and I will approach this in fifth gear around 305km/h and break relatively gently to about 185km/h in third gear."

"The exit of this corner is particularly important as it leads onto the longest and fastest of the many straights at Hockenheim."

"On this first straight I am maintaining full throttle for over 16.5 seconds. I will then reach an ultimate speed of around 345km/h before braking extremely hard before the first chicane where I have to get the speed right down to 115km/h and go all the way through the gearbox to first gear. Like most of the chicanes, I need to use the curves carefully to obtain the best line without upsetting the car too much."

"After this corner I am back onto another long straight were I will reach around 335km/h, obviously in top gear. Once again braking hard, this time right down to 100km/h, and once again first gear for the second chicane."

"The exit of this chicane is in fact a long right-hand corner but I will be able to accelerate at full throttle through it on to the third of the long straights, where I will reach just under 340km/h before braking for the final chicane."

"This, the third chicane, is once again taken in first gear at around 110km/h and it is the chicane where I need to use the curves most aggressively. When exiting this corner I find myself again on a long straight, this time at 330km/h as I come out of the wooded area and into the stadium at 175km/h in a third-gear corner."

"Immediately after this is the complex section starting with a left-hand hairpin, which again I will use first gear for and apex at around 95km/h. A difficult kink then finally leads me to the last two corners which I almost take as one long corner, staying in second gear all the way through and taking both apex’s at 145km/h."
