The Williams team once again set the quickest time at Valencia yesterday, this time with test driver Marc Gene behind the wheel of the FW24.
The former Minardi race driver completed 38 laps and clocked a fastest time of 1:10.527 - over a second quicker than Jenson Button in the Renault.
In sunny and hot weather, Button worked on the set-up for Monaco and tested new tyres and aerodynamic developments. He completed 61 laps despite an engine failure in the morning.
Young gun Fernando Alonso completed 58 laps for the Renault team and tested new developments of the traction control system. He ended up four tenths of a second behind Jenson Button.
Ralf Schumacher and Olivier Panis set the 4th and 5th respectively - both more than two seconds slower than Spaniard Marc Gene.
Today Williams and Renault will conduct tyre evaluation on an artificially wet circuit, on behalf of Michelin.
