Former F1 star Johnny Herbert has expressed further interest in competing in Premier1, especially since the signing of his beloved football club, Chelsea, this week.
The former three-time winner Herbert, who retired from F1 in 2000, has said he would consider the drive but that it would depend on his fortunes in the States where he is competing in open wheelers including the Indianapolis 500.
‘I've been a Chelsea fan all my life and this drive would be one of the options I'd look at for the future depending on my success in America where I'm racing at the moment,’ said the 37-year-old.
Chelsea will promote its name in the Premier1 series, which will begin next year. The cars will be one-make machines similar in dimensions to Formula One cars but with slick tyres. They will be powered by 750-horsepower V10 engines.
