BAR to introduce revised car
Posted 31 May 2002

The British American Racing team will be aiming to score its first points of the season with the introduction of a heavily modified 004-Honda at the Canadian Grand Prix.

BAR, the only squad in pitlane not to have scored a top six finish in 2002, has been working on the revisions since March, led by Technical Director Geoff Willis.

The revisions include an optimised aerodynamics kit, improved gearbox and another engine upgrade from works engine supplier Honda.

David Richards, BAR Team Principal, said confidence was high about breaking the points drought at Montreal even if the modified machine would not get a thorough test this week.

‘Our aero update kit, revised gearbox and new Honda engine will be available for Canada, albeit with only a very short amount of testing this coming week,’ Richards explained.

‘So, we’re looking forward to Jacques’ (Villeneuve) home event with a certain amount of optimism.’
